In the pits
Here's a New Yorker cartoon from Christopher Weyant. It showed up on the Comics I Don't Understand site because some people don't get it. And I have to admit, I'm not sure whether i don't get it or it's not that funny.

Happy Birthday to the UN (guest post)
Hello! Guest contributor Amanda Murphyao here. I've been putting up
historical cartoons involving the world or globe on Mondays, but on this day in 1945, the UN Charter came into effect, so this seemed like a good cartoon for today!

Happy Bartolomé Day
We're a day late for Columbus Day, but Matthew Inman at The Oatmeal throws in a few maps, or at least some globes, to debunk the heroism of Christopher Columbus... but doesn't just stop at (justifiably) tearing down one person, but rather (again justifiably) builds up another: Bartolomé de las Casas (not to be confused with the subject of that Oscar-winning early 1993 movie "The Mission"

Apple Maps iOS7 isn't trying to kill you anymore
Last year we had some fun with the fiasco that was Apple Maps. One of the things mentioned to me that I didn't put in a post was the fact that even the icon for Apple Maps shows directions for driving off the middle of a freeway overpass. Now there is a new operating system for Apple mobile devices in the form of iOS7 and they've made at least one improvement:
