...unless you're Canadian
I quite like this t-shirt design from Busted Tees and I think the time is soon approaching when those restrictions will wither away. The resulting land-grab and/or development explosion will likely be rather tumultuous... although it could very well be that all that will happen before the U.S. gets around to ending those restrictions. That could mean a boatload of missed opportunities for U.S. real estate interests, but it could be better for Cuba.

High-and-mightier-lander.
Again, South America getting short shrift by its North American sibling in this t-shirt design from Busted Tees. Poor South America.

Trash burn
Another map-related t-shirt design from Busted Tees. I'm not sure New Jersey actually deserves this kind of attention.

More Busted T-shirts
Some more map-related t-shirt designs from Busted Tees:
By the way, this is Missouri's debut on our site, making the total number of states mentioned to 43. Only 7 more to go. Please help me find map-related comics for Delaware, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, and West Virginia.
We already did Wyoming, bu here's another:

Out of Africa
Another case of mistaken identity at the continental scale. Usually it's South America that has this problem.

California 'toonin' two-fer
Here's a California-themed two-fer.
The first is a about a drought California had in 2008 by Patrick O'Connor
The second is about California's former governator, Arnold Swarchenegger and his troubles with the state's budget in 2009 by RJ Matson:
And finally a T-shirt design from "Busted Tees"

Has been
More from Busted Tees. This time a pun. And a harsh one at that. Butchaknow, there is that old saying: "The Sun Never Sets on the British Empire", meaning, of course, that Her Majesty's holdings are so vast that it is always daytime in at least some corner of the British Empire. Might it still, somehow, be true? After all, Britain still lays claim to a wide scattering of islands and bits all across the planet. The biggest gap in daylight would be between Pitcairn Island and the British Indian Ocean Territories (but then again those are claimed by other nations). Maybe Old Britannia has merely lost (a lot) of weight.

Risk!
RISK! I spent way too many hours pouring over that game when I was younger... and getting completely destroyed at it by my older brother... Who now works for the US State Department, currently in Nicaragua. That is one of the very many reasons I'm very glad his ruthless soul is working on behalf of my government, not against it. And also why, though I love him, I'm glad he's thousands of miles away. Busted Tees strikes again. Could one get this with any other Risk! "nation" displayed?

Mexico tee
With yesterday's Canada-as-US'-hat t-shirt design, we'll finish the week with Mexico as USA's beard. Now this joke can't be much older than the late 1800's, because before that Mexico didn't look like America's beard. In fact Mexico was as big as or even larger than the USA
until the Mexican-American War of 1845. And even then Texas didn't immediately join the US. It was another 3 years after that before the US took the rest of the territory to California. So 1848 would have been the first time Mexico would have arguably looked like a beard to the USA. Could the joke be that old?

Hat tee

Another Busted Tee design, this one also an old map joke. I do wonder how old this joke is. 19th century you think or all the way back to 18th century?

Syria Tee
While we're in the Middle East we might as well go next door to yesterday's Iraq example and visit Syria. Also a pun which may have existed since the birth of that nation. What's with that part of the world anyway? There's a whole string of nations with ridiculously easily punned names: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Greece. Hungary is close enough to Greece to count. And then the Czech Republic is right there. It begins to reek of cartographic conspiracy.Tuesday, August 11, 2009
Iraq T

Here we go for map-related T-shirt week, brought to you by Busted Tees and inspried by Jon Proctor. This one is also billards-related. There are a hint of Gen. Colin Powell's "You break it, you own it." comment allegedly spoken to Bush in a futile effort to get him and others in the administration to think about the aftermath of invading Iraq. But this particular pun may have been around ever since Iraq became a nation.

T-shirt week

This was suggested to me by my good friend Jon Proctor. It's a T-shirt design available at Busted Tees. In fact there are a healthy number of map-related designs at Busted Tees. Shall we make a week of it? Why not, eh?
'Course this one strikes me as rather insensitive.
