Can't watch without yawning

TED Talks are fascinating ~15 minute lectures on a huge variety of topics. I've posted some on this blog. The TED outfit has united animators with speakers of some of those topics to create animated shorts about some of the subjects. And some of those have maps. The first is a section on one about yawning that shows a map-like thing on a subway.
 
The other is a short debunking the anti-vaccination nonsense and starts with the Earth getting a shot.

D&D maps as webcomic

Over at Wizards of the Coast, curators of D&D, there's a more-or-less-monthly series of maps of D&D dungeons by Jason Thompson.  The detail on them is overwhelming. I'd say more but that'd just get in the way of you going and looking at them. Click on the images to embiggen them.

Google Mechanicsburg

It's time we check in with Agatha Heterodyne, aka Girl Genius. This masterpiece of a webcomics serial won so many awards the creators took themselves out of contention just so other artists would have a chance.  Creators Phil and Kaja Foglio have utilized maps several times in their webcomic as set pieces, and rather elaborate ones they are too. The storyline has advanced considerably since the last time we posted an installment.  Go have a look and get lost in the adventure.

Laser cut stop motion

Nando Costa's "The New America" is a fantastic animation made from 800+ laser engraved blocks of maple. There's lovely maps in the first 30 seconds and then again later on.
